BIOGRAPHY
Kimberly Berg grew up amongst the rolling, pastoral hills of Wisconsin.  After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in history, he moved to New York City with the intention of becoming a writer. That idea did not lead to the publishing success that he had hoped for.  After four years living in the city, he decided to move to upstate New York where he built a small cabin in the Adirondack Park.
Berg now lives a Zen-influenced life of voluntary simplicity creating paintings and sketches that often reflect the quiet, meditative world that surrounds him. He likes to work with pastels in a lyrical, minimalist style using a very limited palette.  He believes that such art can possess strong, transforming powers and it is these powers he tries to evoke in his art.
Kimberly Berg is a member of the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts in Plattsburgh, New York. For the last four years he has been in charge of a Life Drawing group at the Center.
Berg's work has been shown locally, the New York Art Expo '07 and in many national and international competitions where he has received several awards. He is a member of the prestigious international Society for Art of the Imagination, Writers and Poets, and the Woman's Art Caucus. He has had artwork published and reviewed in numerous art catalogs, magazines and newspapers including the New York based GALLERY & STUDIO MAGAZINE. He manages his own online website at IsisRising.net.

Artist Statement
I believe that artists can play an important role in opening a way for women of the Third Millennium to realize their full potentials after thousands of years of patriarchal subjugation. My paintings are an attempt to reconnect women to what has been lost, to her prehistoric roots: her ancient relationship to nature (Meditation series) her goddess-based spirituality (Mandala/Goddess series) and to the once honored, sacred mystery of her body (Blue Lumina series). When such a connection is made through the art image, the viewer is given an opportunity to identify with forgotten memories of her inner nature. I feel it is important for a woman to once again, as in ancient times, see her body as holy and her mission in life as sacred. With such an image of herself, she can be true to her empowered inner being and command respect and honor wherever she is seen.
