tongues of wood,woven with many languages, are controlled by a once precious lapiz stone. What values and what
worthiness remains ? Only the rearrangement of the significant feeling of blue.

Artist Demetrio Alfonso
Alfonso, trained in one of Cuba's best Fine Art schools, went on to be flown around the
globe restoring artifacts. This is important to knowwhen sharing a moment with his current work. He seems unable to sweep
up the debris of restoration and discard its history. He reassembles these unwanted materials,charged with the love of centuries,
creating talisman that symbolise our new satellite visual awareness. This is
art made from art, but the real magically charged type, some of these materials are literally renaissance era. A.B.

BIOGRAPHY
Demetrio Alfonso's artwork is bold, passionate and provocative. His paintings are abstract compositions
of combined organic elements and found objects. An immigrant from his native Canary Islands, Spain, Demetrio studied painting
for seven years at the acclaimed San Alejandro Art School in Havana, Cuba and an additional six years at the School of Visual
Arts and the Arts Student's League in New York. For the past 35 years, in his established Manhattan studio, he has been
restoring valuable paintings, using vast knowledge and expertise in the 18th through 20th century American painting. Recently,
Demetrio's creativity and his passion for his painting has reached a turning point, his inspiration broke him free from traditional
forms of expression and as a result was selected as one of the select few artist's represented by the International Art Fair
in Beijing, and Shanghai, China in May 2006.
