The Grove Gallery Walk Continues its Summer Run on Saturday, August 7

Numerous art exhibitions will debut on Saturday, August 7, in conjunction with the Grove Gallery Walk, the highly successful cultural initiative that showcases the work of emerging artists who are making significant contributions to the Miami arts community.

Focusing on an artist’s beginnings, personal experiences and spiritual journey, this month’s Walk will present an array of visual representation about culture, community, family and soul, as well as marry art with music.
Windisch-Hunt Fine Art Gallery proudly kicks-off the “one of our own” theme, as local-Grovite Sebastian Duncan-Portuondo headlines the gallery’s “Words and Symbols” collection,   with the piece "In the flamboyant Grove, when…" – a 3D flamboyant altar made of mosaic and stained glass pieces.

Just a few doors down, Miami natives Ray Lopez, Juan Travieso, and Reinier Gamboa premiere “Tres,” an art exhibit of contemporary works at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery. These former New World students demonstrate sound technical ability with refreshing illustrative paintings, at a hometown reception during the Walk.

Guests are invited to get really personal with participating artists, as Grove House Artists opens “Refrigerator Art,” a proud grid exhibit of pieces designed not by the artists, but by their children. “Refrigerator Art” will also be interactive, allowing guests to create some of their own.

Blu Moon Studio’s “Inner Journey – Mandala Art” explores the spiritual connection of self to insight, healing, and well being, when artists Sheri Friedman and Peter Barreda invite art enthusiasts to enjoy healthy vegetarian treats, mystical music and the Grove’s own drum circle inside Florentino Plaza.

Other special, international exhibitions featured in the Walk include: “EKLEKTICITY: a collective exhibition of Eight Latin American, Mid-Career Artists,” at the RODEZart.com Gallery and Cristina Chacon Studio Gallery’s “Blended” exhibition featuring new works by Mario Ayerbe, Mena Chacon, Ana Gomez, Gisela Llorens, Sylvia Evelina, Marta Culver and Christy Huang.

Nomade Gallery will continue its acclaimed “Autour du Monde” – a globe-trotting, artistic series of pieces from the Dominican Republic, France and the Bahamas; while German-born, Grove resident Margrit-Rose People’s “African Portraits and other tribal culture art” will be on display at the Dharma Studio.

The Grove Gallery Walk begins at 7 p.m. and continues through 10 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be made available at participating galleries, while live music can be found at some locations Too.
